What to Take to Paris in October
Autumn in Paris is one of my favorite times to visit – particularly in October. It can be moody and rainy or it can be late summer weather with plenty of sunshine. But no matter the weather you get – you're in Paris and it's lovely. I am thrilled to be back in Paris this week and today I am sharing a packing list dedicated to one of my favorite months to visit – October. Read on to see what's in my suitcase and how I pack for Fall trips to Paris.
Paris in October Packing List
1. J.Crew Icon Trench Coat
A classic trench coat is great for Fall weather in Paris and it helps with the inevitable rain.
2. Loeffler Randall Goldy Boots
These were an investment but I love them. They run rather narrow in the calf but I took them to my favorite cobbler and had them stretched ever so much and they are perfect now. You can see me in Paris with these boots in 2020 here.
3. AGolde Ribbed Bodysuit
A bodysuit makes for an easily packable layer that sits so well under Fall dresses, blazers and cardigans. I love the subtle ribbing on this one in particular making it nice and casual with just the slightest leveled up look. I sized up to a Large.
4. Agolde Toni Jeans
My ride or die ankle crop jeans. I love them so much I just bought a second pair!
5. M.M.LaFleur Curie Pants
No Fall trip to Paris is complete without a pair of little black pants. You can wear them with a mule, with a sneaker, with a pump or a flat – this pair in particular is so, so versatile making them perfect for travel. See them on here. I have the size 6 short.
6. Loeffler Randall Isla Booties
These booties always come with me on Paris trips because they are so comfortable and go as well with jeans as they do skirts and dresses.
7. Cuyana Leather Tote
The perfect travel companion, this tote has been my go-to carry on for years and years. It fits lots and can be used for daytime adventures in Paris.
8.Manolo Blahnik Maysale Buckled Mule
I ordered a bunch of these to try both the 50mm heel height and the 70mm and also to see sizing. I tend to size up in mules and that did the trick with these. I ended up keeping the 70mm in 37.5 (I'm usually a 36.5 or 37 in designer shoes). It's been a while since I bought a pair of designer shoes but I decided to get these as a belated birthday present to myself for an upcoming trip. This shoe has been popular for years and years and I love the sophistication it has and how it'll go with my myriad of blazers that hang in my closet.
9. Sarah Flint Natalie Flats
I never go to Paris without a classic ballet flat and this feminine and oh-so-comfortable pair is my favorite. The Margaux Demi Ballet Flats are another favorite pair.
10. Common Projects Achilles Sneakers
After four years of non-stop wear, it was finally time for a new pair of my all-time favorite sneakers. They were largely sold out but I finally hunted them down at Saks in my size (sized down to size 36). For a more affordable style, I recommend the Veja Esplar Sneakers.
11. Jenni Kayne Cashmere Fisherman Sweater
I love to layer a trench coat or leather jacket over my favorite cashmere sweaters. I have this one in two colors. It's an investment but so beautifully made. I also just got this less expensive version: J.Crew Cashmere Puff Sleeve Sweater.
12. Leather Jacket
Fall in Paris is quintessential leather jacket weather. On cooler days I'll layer mine under my trench coat.
13. Umbrella
Fall in Paris means rain not if but when. This travel umbrella is the perfect size and opens and closes with ease. I've been bringing it to Paris for several years now and it's held up so well. Related; What To Do in Paris When It Rains.
14. Crewneck T-Shirt
Ideal as a base layer for Fall under blazers, jackets and cardigans I always bring crewneck t-shirts in a couple of colors. The MM.LaFleur Leslie tee is my favorite – I own it in two colors in M.
15. Hat
I like to bring a fedora and berets with me when I go in Fall. Usually it's not cool enough for beanies in the early Fall.
16. Tailored Jacket
Structured jackets and blazers
17. Striped Tee
No trip to Paris is complete without a striped tee. I reach for long sleeve ones when I go in the Fall. I own this one in a M.
18. Button Down
A timeless wardrobe staple for any French wardrobe, I always bring my favorite button down. I own this one in size 8.
19. Plaid Pants
I love Audrey Hepburn inspired plaid cropped pants in Paris in the Fall. They're a nice break from black pants or denim.
A few other items in my suitcase this Fall:
Youth to the People Skincare Minis
My favorite cleanser and my favorite face cream in perfectly proportioned minis for travel.
Silk Tank
A silk tank layered under a black blazer or leather jacket is my go to for going out in Paris at night.
Isabel Marant Lecce Wrap Belt
My favorite belt for layering over Fall dresses as seen here.
Le Scarf Striped Silk Scarf
I always bring several silk scarves with me to Paris to top on my bags or tie around my waist. They make the perfect accessory when in Paris.
Sezane Johnson Coat
If weather in the Fall is on the cooler side, I reach for this classic car coat. I own this one in a size 8.
