What does anapsid mean?
Many people wonder why I chose such a goofy/strange/dumb proper noun for my herp site. Once you find out what anapsid means, I trust you won't detect information technology so goofy, strange or impaired.

Electronic mail Addresses
To assist prevent malicious harvesting of email addresses from this site, I accept encoded email addresses with an exclamation signal and bare space (! ) later the @ (i.e., proper noun@! internet access provider.xxx or name@ !internet access provider.thirty). To send electronic mail to those who have email links, yous will demand to first remove the exclamation point and infinite. Read more virtually site rationale and accessibility...

I reserve all rights to my work . VeterinaryPartner.com uses my material with my permission and my cheers.

The Writer and Her Writings
Every bit will become apparent when reading many of my articles, I am an animal welfarist . I strongly believe that if humans are going to keep animals--in whatsoever setting--we have the responsibility, the obligation, to care for them properly. Unfortunately, care information for many species now beingness imported is lacking, while data that exists for many others is then incorrect that it would do good those species if the information did non exist at all.

All new animal keepers make mistakes. I feel that it is the responsibility of those who have walked that path before to share as much data every bit possible so that the newcomers volition avoid the mistakes we fabricated. Hoarding information is as bad as hoarding animals. No one benefits, to the lowest degree of all the animals.

Another personal indicate of view will too be seen to emerge in many of my herp writings. This particular point of view stems from the things I have had to acquire, oft the difficult fashion, after being stricken with with several illnesses, including those that affect my neuroendocrine and immune systems.

While the ways in which I was exposed to chemicals and tickborne diseases may exist unique for someone who was for so long a strictly urban creature, the fact remains that I am far from unique in a world where every living affair has go a guinea grunter for the chemical stew which surrounds u.s. every day and every night. Stress exacerbates all illness and tin make good for you people--and animals--ill. Animals in captivity are under constant stress, even those kept in the near perfect of environments. And so you will meet me make recommendations and cautions that are apparently contrary to everything else written by those who write about animal care. Few of those authors, however, share my own experience and learning in these areas. My bottom line is always the wellness and functioning of the animals and their keepers. That is why my Chronic Neuroimmune Diseases and Lyme Affliction sites is are function of my Anapsid site.

Why Help Back up This Site?
I had to take my site down in 2001 because of new traffic (bandwidth) charges assessed by my Internet access provider. The Www and surfing the 'Net may exist gratuitous other than someone paying an ISP for access, but the Www is anything just free for those providing content. Veterinarian Information Network stepped up and gave me a place to put my site dorsum online, but in that location are notwithstanding ongoing expenses that are tough to brand when you lot are unable to piece of work for a living. That's why I set upward the Back up This Site page: a way for herpers to get things they demand while helping to go along this site on the Web for everyone else to use.

Site Rationale, Graphics, and Accessibility
To a larger extent, my site format and design decisions are based on some things most webmasters of private sites don't take into consideration when designing theirs.

Site Rationale
This site is to assist herp keepers and others learn about the captive care requirements of many types of reptiles and amphibians, every bit well as learn about their biology, wellness, behavior, conservation, and other matters relating to herps and the earth we all alive in.Most of the information hither is herpetological or herpetocultural in nature, including many of my manufactures and care documents, links to sure other sites, and some other things that I notice of import just that may or may not involvement y'all. But that'south the beauty of hypertext: yous can e'er link out!

Please take some time to familiarize yourself with the layout of this page and cluster pages At terminal count, there are over 1100 manufactures arranged in several thematic clusters. I do hope you will take some time to scan through the cluster pages (run across the links to your left, which also appear at the bottom of every commodity page).

Graphic Images
Many people note the paucity of graphic images at my site. That is intentional. Most visitors are thankful that they don't take to expect for images to develop before they can get to the data or have to backtrack and turn images off in their browser and and so recall to turn them back on again. Bottom line is that at that place are still a goodly number of folks out there without high-speed modems and graphics capabilities or tiresome phone lines with no DSL in sight. Whatever the reason, there is a significant number of people who don't want to look for graphics that take little to do with the discipline matter to load. There are many sites with wonderful graphics, then no ane is being deprived. I've likewise received mail from some very phobic folks who were grateful they didn't take to shudder through pictures of snakes to get to the articles they were interested in. If you want graphics, check the graphics sites linked to my Resource page.

Accessibility
Along with maximizing the load time while still providing comfortably readable formatted text, my second business is to keep the site widely attainable. There are many websurfers out at that place who have autoimmune, visual or other disorders or impairments that make it incommunicable for them to utilize newer computers, or hard to navigate a site with all the latest bells and whistles also equally lots of cute graphics, photos, JAVA scripts, applets, etc.

While many webmasters address the differences between browsers and Mac vs. Windows, well-nigh seem not to realize or care about those nevertheless using older computers, or UNIX or Lynx.

There are a huge number of disabled people and others who simply cannot afford to upgrade their equipment as ofttimes equally they would like. Since my site is all most providing information, its format and pattern is geared towards beingness easy to access and read for every bit many people every bit possible.
